Republican Zombies

Remember the monster movies of the past?

They always reflected the times in which they were made. Movies of the 1950's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers or Invaders from Mars were satires on the rigid conformity of the era. The 1960's had their horrors of nuclear annihilation and science run amok themes. The 1970's and 1980's had their inner demon angst.

Here in 2011 we have Zombie's galore. You know zombies, the creatures risen from the dead bent on eating the brains of normal Americans. They dress funny and shuffle along like geriatric patients in search of prunes. They cannot be stopped in their mindless pursuit of their goal. They will do anything to get what they want.

Today we have the Tea Party. To them people with brains are the enemy. They love to play dress up. A lot of them are of advanced age. They mindlessly pursue money. They want to infect you with their ideology. They will do anything to get what they want.

Poison Tea Grandpa?

People who worship only golden idols, today known as money, want to turn the rest of Americans into Frankenstein soul-less monsters they themselves are. One needs only to watch the Republican debates to see and hear the gollums shout and cheer when a candidate throws out his chest and says how proud he is to have sent hundreds of people to be executed. They find money to be so holy, such a sacrament, that they would shut off life support for comatose patients to save a buck. They have already voted to sacrifice Medicare on the health insurance industries altars all in the name of greed. Their leading presidential candidate wants to end Social Security by turning it over to the states. Why not just whip up a cheap batch of poison tea for everyone over the age of 60? Too bad Jim Jones isn't still around. He would probably be their nominee.

The Neanderthal versus Super Geek

There was a vast clamoring among the greedy. Their opponent was bloodied and weakened through their constant attacks. He was ripe for defeat. All the greedy had to do was to bring forth a credible savior from the ranks of the rich. They always brought their hero's up from the wealthy side of the tracks, who else would champion their cause? Trouble was this crusade had been taken over by the lunatic troglydyte element of their money first party. You know the ones with white or blue hair that like to play dress up and hang tea bags in odd places. The choice was now down to two. First there was the Neanderthal from the state, that wanted to secede from the union. He hated all things government, even Social Security. He said government was evil so naturally he wanted to head it.

The other candidate was more to the liking of the established greed mongers. He looked like Clark Kent. He had all the credentials. He had made his money the right way by taking over companies and firing workers. He said corporations were people too, especially the CEOs. The battle lines were drawn. Money flowed from the 527's like confetti. Super Geek capered gleefully while they Neanderthal inhaled and exhaled heavily through his mouth making grunting noises. This was going to be a close one. How could it not be with two such exceptionally qualified candidates.

A Media Enabled Armagedon

Now we all know that right wing radio and television have really put the crazy into politics in a major way. Republicans have a list of candidates that don't believe in global warming, evolution, raising taxes on the wealthy, or that the world is over 4 billion years old. You have a bunch of blue haired old people running around playing dress-up, that now represent the party of Abraham Lincoln. Republicans have gone from the Gettysburg Address to "Brownie you're doing a heck of a job." All but maybe 3 or 4 of the Republicans in Congress have not only signed on to a pledge never to raise taxes, but also a budget that will end Medicare as we know it. Where is the objective reporting that should point out just how insane the party of Lincoln has become? Don't get me wrong, I watch MSNBC all the time but it really seems to me that a lot of the arguments being raised are just to cause a reaction and boost ratings. If some nut is running around naked with a loaded gun, do you point out he is a nut with a loaded gun or do you ask him to run back your way so you can get better footage.
